  • Week 236 – September 22nd – Back home

So the flight from Dubai to Heathrow, was all going well, until we reached England when it announced there were delays at Heathrow, so we were in a holding pattern.

I had the Emirates aircraft camera on, that was under the aircraft and I was quite shocked to see an aircraft flying below us, it looked really close, but most likely a few thousand feet below us.

We finally landed after flying around for about 40 minutes, but were held on the runway for 30 minutes.  Finally after getting to the gate, we were then held up for another 20 minutes as they had issues to get the doors open.

Then we had a long walk to the customs, which thankfully wasn’t too busy and got through quite quickly.

Once we claimed our suitcase, we found our driver, who I had messaged to say what was going, so didn’t have park for too long in the car park.

The journey home was good, but where did those 12 days go?

Can’t wait to return to Mauritius!!

  • Week 236 – September 21st – Can’t believe it’s the last day

Can’t believe the holiday is over. We saw the lady Yarsa who greeted us on our arrival and she managed to get us an extension for our room to late afternoon, which meant there was no rush in packing.

After a final great breakfast, we spent a final few hours on the beach, soaking in the sun and the wonderful service of the staff.

This has been our best holiday ever, helped by the good weather, wonderful hotel and amazing staff.

I would fully recommend the Lux Grand Gaube hotel.

  • Week 236 – September 20th – Relaxing day – Part 1

Some pictures from a relaxing day at the resort.

    Mauritius
The man in the hat, Reedoo, already making sure the beach is ready for the hotel guest to enjoy.

    Mauritius
This was where we ate last night, after an issue with the previous night meal. We never expected to have part of the restaurant to ourselves or to have the head chef to cook for us our own meal under the supervision of the restaurant manager. It was a bit surreal to be honest.

    Mauritius
The cafe Lux was brilliant for coffees through out the day, led by Sylvano, they were always happy to chat and always served with a great smile.
  • Week 236 – September 19th – South Island trip – Part 10

    Mauritius
One of the furnaces at the rum factory.

Final posting from the tour, after trying a couple more rums.

We then left for the journey back home.

From chatting with our driver, just shows the differences between the countries, he earns less in a year and not paying tax because of his earnings then what our holiday cost. That doesn’t seem right to me.

It was good to see parts of Mauritius and how they live.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures from the trip?
