  • Week 289 – September 18th – Bank interest

The bank interest rate stays at 4%, with a 7 – 2 vote, the two people voted against, wanted the bank rate reduced to 3.75.

In the minutes released, the committee judged that a gradual and careful approach to further rate cuts “remained appropriate”

  • Week 289 – September 15th – Oyster card

I wasn’t aware that turning 60, you could get free travel on British rail and the underground if you live in a London borough.

So, I went on the London Transport website and filled out a form for my Oyster card.

You do have to pay an administration fee and renewal fee, but after a couple of trips, everything will be free.

  • Week 286 – August 30th – No brainer

Earlier in the week I had a telephone call with WPA regarding my health cover, as it was renewal time.

I was able to remove 16 hospitals, after I reviewed, a list was sent to me. I had never used these hospitals.

So, a saving of £60 was made.

  • Week 284 – August 12th – Annual review

On one of the hottest days of year, I travelled up to London for annual financial review with Nikki and Graeme.

Now over 5 years since this was in place and thankfully the performance for the most part has been in the positive.

As we have seen you never know what is going to happen, but hopefully it will stay that way.

Graeme team laid on a lovely lunch and then we had some time at a local pub.

    ice cream
So needed this ice cream on the walk back to the station on this very hot day in London
  • Week 283 – August 7th – Interest rates

For the first time ever, the rates required a 2nd vote, due to various results from the 1st vote where there were three different opinions on what should be done.

On the 2nd vote, it was decided to reduce the interest rates from 4.25% to 4%.

  • Week 282 – August 2nd – Credit score

Login required to see this posting.

  • Week 282 – July 31st – What a joke

So, literally a year before the event, we cannot be refunded the tickets we purchased.

Using security and event policy, what a joke TicketMaster are!!

How can it be a security issue? I just want to return my tickets and get a refund for them.

I have raised this issue with several organisations, see if I get any support from them.

Just be careful when purchasing tickets.

  • Week 277 – June 26th – HM Land Registry’s Property Alert service

The six-monthly report came through, and all was OK with the property.

I would recommend this for peace of mind that no one is trying to use your property for their benefit. It’s free to register.

  • Week 276 – June 20th – Halifax

Earlier in the week, I had received a letter from the Halifax building society, that If I didn’t visit a branch before September, the account would be closed.

So, I went to a branch in Eltham and when I got to a cashier, I was pleasantly surprised that the account had £950 in.

I had the account closed and money transferred.

So always make sure you read your post, that’s when you get some delivered.

I then did something for the 1st time in my life and went into a bookie and placed two bets.

    Watch this space.

  • Week 276 – June 19th – Interest rates
