  • Week 252 – January 9th – NHS health insight survey

Another month and another NHS health insight survey.

I have definitely seen an improvement in the last year with seeing a doctor in a reasonable time.

Though I do wonder how people cope that have no computer or computer skills as you have do an online request.

  • Week 251 – January 3rd – SVT appointment

I went to see the consultant regarding my SVT and he was happy with our my leg looked after taking the blood thinner tablet.

He advised me to stop taking the medication, but did say that now I have had this happened once, it can happen again.

I was glad this was a face to face appointment and not just a telephone call, put my mind at risk regarding this incident.

So I’ll be very careful if I fly again.

  • Week 249 – December 21st – St Thomas appointment

Today we travelled up to London as Claire had been asked to have an echocardiogram at St Thomas.

When we walked into the location, we wondered if we were in the right place as there was no one there.

After a few minutes someone came who was the receptionist as she had been making a coffee and checked us in.

Everything went OK for Claire with the echocardiogram.

  • Week 249 – December 16th – Great news

This afternoon I had the follow up appointment with the Doctor regarding my blood pressure and she was happy that it was good, with an average reading of 117/82 and said that did not need medication and would sign me off for my life insurance.

I found it interesting that the Doctor said I should have been on the medication, but the walking and keeping active as obviously helped my blood pressure, does make me wonder if you need to stay on medication once on it.

Let’s see what the life insurance company now say.

  • Week 248 – December 12th – NHS Insight Survey

I did my monthly NHS Insight Survey regarding mainly GP surgery and pharmacy usage.

From this feedback, it looks like people are happy with the service they are getting.

“An estimated 95.7% of adults who tried to contact their GP practice in the last 28 days were successful; the percentage making contact on the same day has shown a small, consistent increase to 78.5% in Wave 4 (15 October to 6 November 2024) from 76.8% in Wave 1 (23 July to 15 August 2024).

Of those who tried to contact their GP practice in the last 28 days, 73.8% perceived their overall experience as either “Very good” or “Good”; this has also increased consistently over the first four waves, from 67.4% in Wave 1.

Of those given an appointment or a call-back from a GP or healthcare professional in the last 28 days, 80.8% were either given a face-to-face appointment or asked if they wanted one.

Of those who had a face-to-face appointment in the last 28 days, 35.1% have a preferred healthcare professional; of this group 61.0% were able to see their preferred professional.

Over half of adults (52.8%) reported having an NHS dentist; of those who attended an NHS dental appointment in the last 28 days, 89.6% were “Very satisfied” or “Satisfied” with the care they received.

94.1% of adults who did not have a dentist and who had tried to make an NHS dental appointment in the last 28 days, reported they were unsuccessful in making an appointment.

The majority of adults (88.9%) who had used an NHS pharmacy service in the last 28 days were “Very satisfied” or “Satisfied” with the most recent service they received; the percentage reporting a problem getting an NHS prescription has shown a consistent decrease to 14.4% in Wave 4 from 20.1% in Wave 1.”

  • Week 246 – November 27th – Doctor appointment

Well that was an interesting appointment.

It turns out the medication I was put on in May 2024, I should have still been taking and that I should have had a six month check up to see how I was doing on the medication for my blood pressure.

Which I said I was never told that when I had the doctor call back then.

I had been checking my blood pressure readings and showed them to the doctor who said they looked good.

She wanted me to check my blood pressure for the next 7 days, twice two times a day between 6am to 12pm and then 6pm to 12am.

Bring the reading in next week and book a follow up appointment.

  • Week 244 – November 15th – Well done Kojo

Today I sponsored Kojo for doing an overnight sleepout to help the homeless.

It’s crazy in this day that people are sleeping rough, though that about sums up this crazy world, with wars going on around the world, people sleeping rough, people being knifed and killed for what?

We should be living together with peace and love. Just shows we have not learned anything from our history.

So well done Kojo and his daughters for doing this.

  • Week 244 – November 14th – Health Insight Survey

This survey I had to input quite a bit as I have had to use the NHS in the last month.

Overall it was excellent, it was just getting through A&E that was the issue, this is mainly down to lack of staff and so many people needing help.
