Month: June 2020

  • Week 18 –June 29th 2020 – Week 15 of lockdown

This was the news I had been waiting for. I was in a good place now and with the weather being so good, I had already made myself available to play for New Ash Green.

    Dear all,

We are delighted that the UK Government has given the green light for recreational cricket in England* to return from Saturday July 11.

The latest update from the UK Government signals progression from Step 3 to Step 4 of ECB’s roadmap to return for the recreational game, meaning competitive cricket matches in England with adjustments to respect hygiene and social distancing would be permitted.

ECB has maintained a constant dialogue with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) throughout this process and the UK Government have stated that COVID-secure guidance will be published in the coming days.

Guidelines are already prepared for the return of recreational cricket and following the Prime Minister’s comments, will now be finalised and published early next week.

Well my cricket stats project was now in full swing as was finding error after error, this was the response I was getting after raising them via the cricinfo feedback page.

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch with Cricinfo.

Your email will be read and passed to the relevant department.

Due to the sheer volume of messages that we receive, we can’t guarantee that we will reply to every email.

However, we do very much appreciate your feedback.

    Many thanks,

    Customer care

  • Week 17 –June 22nd 2020 – Week 14 of lockdown

With the weather being so good and wanting to stay fit and healthy, we went off to Knole Park.

This has become our place to escape the virus and just relax.

The great thing is, there are untold places you can enter the park from and it’s all free unless you want to go into the house, which has often been off limits because of the virus.

Later in the year, Claire was to take one of the best amateur photographs I’ve ever seen!

    So watch this space 🙂

Did I really let the garage get that bad?  Bad me.

    Garage_0020
    What a MESS!!

Obviously I did, looking at this in the garden, also make a note of the right hand side and in front of the garage.

    Garage_0021
Yes it was that bad 🙁
    Garage_0023
How much work to be done and runs to the rubbish dump?

So who you going to call? COVID19 buster.

    Garage_0022
Who you going to call COVID19 buster!!

What a difference, can actually use it again and find stuff, well I could before, but this is easier.

    Garage_0024
    Now that’s much better. 🙂

  • Week 16 –June 15th 2020 – Week 13 of lockdown

Now my DIY was stepping up a level (yes for you experts), this may be nothing, but as I mentioned before, before 2020 my skills were 0.

So to change this small bedroom from this

    BeforeBefore

to this was a big deal, all done in four days. I think I did a good job. What do you think?

Well though I know I’m good at something, like cutting down or smashing stuff up, now and again I do need help.

Thankfully my wife steps in often too help, great team work to get rid of this annoying willow over our drive.

  • Week 15 –June 8th 2020 – Week 12 of lockdown

Now earlier in the year (February) we had done a Government National Statistics survey about living. We were asked at the end if we would do other surveys and we said yes, not knowing that the next one would be so major!!

In early June I received a letter which had On Her Majesty’s Service, was I finally going to be James Bond 🙂

    COVID19 survey swab testing

Erm NO, this was to be COVID19 swab testing, first for five weeks in a row and then once a month for a year.

We thought anything to help fight this virus, it’s not pleasant, but at least we do ourselves and we know we are in the clear or not. Plus reading all these stories about people struggling to get a test, we had them coming to us 🙂

  • Week 15 –June 8th 2020 – Week 12 of lockdown

Now as I have said earlier, I feel for any new plant that is purchased, as I know they will die at the hands of my lovely wife Claire.

But COVID19 seems to have had an impact on her, as these plants and all other plants that have been put out, have lived and died naturally, well done Claire!! xx

    It’s annoying I don’t have a before picture, but I’ve learnt that 🙂

Going into the unknown this week.

Had a Zoom meeting with Nikki going over how my pension would be handled by Brewin Dolphin and AJ Bell for my SIPP.

It was now or never with trusting Nikki and not seeing him on that Jet Ski!!
