Month: July 2024

  • Week 226 – July 10th – Petition time

This afternoon, I signed a petition regarding toll prices for using the Blackwall tunnel, which has been free for over 100 years and now they want to charge to help pay for the new SilverTown tunnel, which I don’t see of any benefit to or a lot of people.

I doubt anything will come of it, because Khan seems to get way on anything and everything. Especially when it involves grabbing money of people..

But as they say, if you don’t try or do something, you don’t know.

  • Week 225 – July 7th – British Grand Prix

As the weather hadn’t been brilliant since Thursday and for the only time of the year, a grand prix race is shown live on free to air television, we decided to watch the British Grand Prix.

What a race it was with 3 British drivers taking the top 3 grid places, which hadn’t ever for the British Grand Prix.

The race was great as there was a lot of overtaking and especially the final result, as Claire favourite Lewis Hamilton won his final British Grand Prix race as a Mercedes driver and was his first win in 945 days.

Even on the television, the noise of the crowd was incredible and Lewis was very emotional.

    Great race and result.

  • Week 225 – July 6th – CCTV recovered

When checking the play back on the CCTV on the 4th July, the back camera started showing a pixel image again for the 1st few seconds.

When it happened last time, I asked the engineer how did he fix it and he said that the settings had reverted to the original settings.

I left it till today, but the issue was still showing.

So I logged on to the admin site and went into the configuration and compared the settings between the two cameras and notice two differences.

So I changed them and seems to resolve the issue.

For the 1st time, I had noticed there had been an update on the night of the issue occurring, which was update v.6.4.200 personal mode mobile client.

I don’t understand why an update that appears to be related to the client would cause an issue with the camera settings, but it’s the first time anything as occurred when this issue as happened.

  • Week 225 – July 5th – Not again

    Car
Trying to start the car again.

Claire had a day off today, so we decided to go up to Ruxley garden centre for breakfast.

Had a good breakfast and went back to the car to go elsewhere and NO. The car wouldn’t go into gear, like what happened in January.

We checked in the manual after what the car mechanic had shown me and I pressed the button to reset the car, but nothing happened.

So I called the RAC to send someone.

After x amount of time, the car lost all power, thankfully this time we were parked on a flat surface, so no fear of rolling.

I tried the reset button again and the power came back, but the car wouldn’t respond.

Left it for some time waiting for the RAC to turn up, then I thought, why is the car camera working and Claire’s phone charging?

So I tried to start the car again and this time everything worked. Phew

The manual recommends that you drive for at least 30 minutes, so we took a drive, cancelled the RAC.

We stopped after about an hour to put petrol into car, and thankfully the car started again after it had been fuelled up.

Why has this happened again, especially after the long drive yesterday to Norwich?

  • Week 225 – July 5th – Another small win

The small wins keep coming for us on the national lottery.

As the jackpot wasn’t won, it was a roll down to all the other prices, which meant as well as winning 2 lucky dip tickets, we also won £10.

Is there a big one around the corner?

    Lottery
As it was a roll down and no one claimed the jackpot, the lucky dip wins also won £5 too.
  • Week 225 – July 5th – New government

Well the Conservatives took a right bashing in the general election, not surprising after the party gate scandal, the handling of the pandemic, then the mess of Liz Truss leadership, followed by the cost living crisis which they didn’t really help with at all.

The worrying thing, is that this was the second lowest turnout by people to vote, don’t they care about the country?

It shows voting is important, as 7 of the constituency were by won less than 100 votes.

So a Labour government after 14 years, good luck and I hope we can see some help for the people.

  • Week 225 – July 4th – Voting and funeral

So today was the general election. I think it was earliest I’ve been to vote, it was pretty quiet at the polling station.

The reason we went early, was that we were traveling to Norwich for a funeral of Claire’s mum best friend who had passed away last month.

Thankfully the weather and the journey were good and the funeral went of very well, the church was packed with a lot of people standing.

    RIP in Anne.

  • Week 225 – July 3rd – I did it again

I managed to get a couple more comments on to live commentary of a match.

This time England v New Zealand.

    cricinfo
How will England do without the number one ranked bowler?

    cricinfo
Why no positive thoughts from the commentator?
