  • Week 260 – February 28th – Not what you want to see

We had gone to get a coffee and got back into the car, Claire said what’s that pointing at the car front window.

I got out of the car and it looked even worse, something had caused a massive crack on the screen.

You don’t want it to happen at any time, but we are selling the car next Tuesday.

    Car
A massive crack on the window and were meant to be selling the car next Tuesday.

Once we got back home, I posted on the Auto glass website and was advised someone would call back by 1pm.

Of course no call, so I was then able to find a number to contact them and after speaking with a very helpful person, the earliest it could be done was Tuesday morning, the same day as picking up the new car.

I rang the car seller and of course the sales person wasn’t available, not surprising with the new car registration out tomorrow, so sent an email.

    Let see what they say.

  • Week 260 – February 24th – Pot of gold

With warm temperature and a lot of rain, manage to capture a rainbow.

Is there a pot of gold at the end of it?

  • Week 259 – February 23rd – What a dinner

    Roast
Great way to the end the day, Pork roast dinner, wonderfully cooked by Claire.

What a wonderful roast dinner this was tonight. Shame couldn’t put more on the plate.

  • Week 259 – February 22nd – Claire diabetes eye test

Took Claire to her yearly diabetic eye test.

It was at the same hospital, but in a different part of the building.

When we got on the floor it was like a ghost town, the waiting room was quite clearly a patient bedroom.

Considering all the issues with lack of space for the NHS, this just shows the waste of a medical property with all these empty rooms.

The eye test went all OK.

  • Week 258 – February 15th – What colours

Another amazing sun rise capture today.

    Sunrise
    What a sunrise coloured sky.

I must admit the picture doesn’t show the full spectacle of the colours.

  • Week 258 – February 14th – Bridget Jones Mad about the boy

To enjoy Valentines, we decided to go and see the new film about Bridget Jones, this is meant to be the last one, we will see.

If it is, it went out in style and was a great film, with both sad and laughter moments in the film.

    Very enjoyable evening.

  • Week 258 – February 14th – Life expectancy

This morning I received an email about life expectancy, here are the main points from it.

“Boys born in the UK in 2023 can expect to live on average to age 86.7 years and girls to age 90.0 years based on projections of cohort life expectancy, which take into account future improvements in mortality.

Cohort life expectancy at birth in the UK is projected to reach 89.3 years for boys and 92.2 years for girls born in 2047, an increase of 2.6 years and 2.2 years, respectively from 2023 levels.

People aged 65 years in the UK in 2023 can expect to live on average a further 19.8 years for males and 22.5 years for females based on cohort life expectancy, projected to rise to 21.8 years for males and 24.4 years for females by 2047.

A projected 17.3% of boys and 24.7% of girls born in 2047 in the UK will live to at least 100 years old, an increase from 11.5% of boys and 17.9% of girls born in 2023.

Our latest projections of cohort life expectancy at birth are 1.0 year lower for males and 0.5 years lower for females born in 2047 than the 2020-based interim projections.”

Good to see that it’s getting longer, but then what’s happening in the world, who knows if it’s good?

    What do you think?

  • Week 257 – February 9th – Toilet seat

We had been out during the day and on the way home, we went into Homebase, not realising that it was closing down and had huge sales on.

We had tried to get a new toilet seat via Next, but both of them had issues with, so were returned.

There was a 60% saving here on the toilets seats, so decided to get one and some other items as well and made a great saving.

This was sad to see Homebase closing, as we had used it a lot during the pandemic.

  • Week 257 – February 7th – Met with Rob Bristow

On this cold wet evening, I went over to Petts Wood and met Rob Bristow. It’s been a few years since we have seen each other.

We went to a restaurant called the Little India.

Never been before, but the food was very good as was the service. Had a great evening with Rob and then went over to the DayLight Inn for a drink and carry on the conversation.  Excellent night.
