  • Week 278 – July 5th – Speldhurst v Luddesdowne

Of course, after a scorching week, the weather turned on Saturday, and a game that was reduced to 35 overs at the start, was further reduced to 30 overs after further rain breaks.

Usually batting first in a rain affected match, is a disadvantage, but we managed to reach 228-4 thanks to 2 brilliant innings from Edward Bartlett 75 and Ejaz Deane 77.

In reply we manage to restrict Luddesdowne to 153-4, with Ejaz Deane, completing a fine all-round match taking 2-13.

Speldhurst 228-4 off 30 overs (Edward Bartlett 75, Ejaz Deane 77) beat Luddesdowne 153-4 off 30 overs (Andrew Peeke 33, John Gawen 48*, Z  Rawfy 36), by 75 runs.

  • Week 278 – July 5th – NHS at its best

People are easy to moan and complain about something, so I decided to give this feedback regarding the care I got from the NHS staff at Princess Royal and my SVT.

“I was at the hospital early July in the afternoon, at the urgent care after my doctor referred me. The receptionist was helpful and clear with her information on check in.

I was then triaged within about 5 minutes and was dealt with all OK and understood the triage doctor.

About an hour later I was seen by a doctor, who within seconds realised I had a serious issue with left leg. He listened to me and took an interest with the information I was telling and showing from the mychart app.

He wrote up my issue and sent me SDEC ward.

There I was sent I was welcomed very nicely at reception and was sent to waiting room. Shortly afterwards I was triaged there, and my blood were taken. Both nurses were excellent.

Roughly a 90-minute wait for the blood test results when I was seen by a female doctor who was lovely again listen to me and explained clearly that the blood results showed a slight infection and it did appear that I did have SVT again. Was sending an urgent email to the DVT team for a ultra scan and to see the team.

A nurse came and saw me shortly afterwards and showed me how to do the injections and gave me the antibiotics too.

The next day, I received a phone call to come in at 11am

I saw Terence again, who is lovely person with assistant Romairo, the scan was done which I could see and yes it showed that I had SVT virtually in the same areas as last year, but that this time I also had fluid on the leg.

I then went up to the DVT unit and was seen again by Jeru who is very clear with his instructions and information. I was prescribed blood thinner tablets and the next process.

All I can say from the moment I entered the building I was treated with respect, everyone I saw and apologise I didn’t remember all the names, but they listened and took interest with my issue. Considering all the pressure the staff are under and for the pay they get, I couldn’t fault Princess Royal at all.  NHS at its best. Thank you.”

  • Week 278 – July 4th – SVT

I was called before 9am and asked if i could get to the hospital for 11am for an ultrasound and consultation, I said sure.

Whilst I was waiting for the ultrasound, there was an article on the TV programme about varicose veins, and from this, I believe they can get dealt with as a medical issue, as I believe this what is causing the SVT.

The ultrasound showed I had SVT again in the same place and fluid retention this time, the ultrasound consultant wasn’t happy that when I was signed off in January, I didn’t have another scan to make sure it had gone.

Considering we only raised this the issue in June, very impressive with how Tapi dealt with the stair issue and replacing the carpet for free.

  • Week 278 – July 2nd – Arsenal football you are rubbish

I raised this safety query on the 9th of June after the Robbie Williams concert at the Arsenal Emirates Stadium.

I had to chase several times by phone calls, and this was the response.

    Dear Michael.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. I am sorry for the delay in responding to you during this busy time. Additionally, we’re sorry to hear about the issues you experienced at the recent Robbie Williams concert.

As a matter of caution, we’ve shared your feedback with our Stewarding Manager for review, particularly in relation to how the queueing system was implemented and of course your comments around the interactions you had with members of our stewarding team. Our aim is always to ensure that queuing is managed as comfortably as possible for attendees, while still adhering to our security policies.

For both nights of the Robbie Williams concerts, the promoter requested that certain turnstiles be designated for early access, specifically for those with tickets to enter the golden circle, for instance. Given the unpredictable timing of when fans chose to queue, and the fact that turnstiles would remain open for an extended duration, it was determined that fencing would not be necessary in this case. Naturally, our Event Safety team is reviewing this situation in preparation for any upcoming non-football events, and we will convey your feedback and experiences.

Should you wish to enquire further with Live Nation regarding timings from the concert they can be contacted via: Live Nation UK

Thank you again for your feedback.”

Just a joke, they didn’t answer the question and mentioned something that I didn’t ask about and then passed the buck.

    Arsenal you are rubbish.
