  • November 19th RIP my friend John William George Harley

Six years ago today, my good friend John Harley passed away.

I met him in the 80’s when he joined Chelsfield Exiles cricket club. He was our Monty (Panesar), couldn’t field or bat, but would bowl and bowl and bowl. Ask him how many wickets he took, he could real that off with ease.

He was diagnosed with cancer in April 2014 and his innings was to end 19th November 2014 (53 years old)

He managed to play virtually the whole summer and John Harley, being John Harley, with his very last ball took a wicket!!!!

In his last few years he became a TV and film extra and was well liked in that too.

My dad was able to go for a check-up regarding his myeloma cancer, and I’m sure due to COVID19 and not having appointments, it had resurfaced.

He had two blood transfusions this week, which thankfully sorted this out and would need a daily injection to see if it could improve further.
