Sat Apr 3rd 2021 PREMIER LEAGUE

Leeds United 2 Sheffield United 1 FT – 1-1 HT

    Harrison (12’minutes), Jagielka (49’minutes og) – Osborn (45’+2minutes)

    Assists – Raphinha (12’minutes)

Leeds United scored early in each half to beat Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United and move into the top half of the Premier League.

Leeds were firmly on top at a sunny Elland Road and took an early lead as Raphinha squared for Jack Harrison to tap in his seventh goal of the season.

The hosts were made to rue their missed chances in first-half stoppage time as Ben Osborn forced the ball over the line after Oli McBurnie’s shot deflected into his path.

But Leeds were back in front inside four minutes of the second half, Phil Jagielka turning Harrison’s low cross into his own net with Raphinha lurking.

Leeds have completed the league double over Sheffield United for the first time since 1991-92, when they won the top-flight title.

Leeds registered at least 20 shots in a Premier League game for the fifth time this season (23 in total), with only Manchester City doing so more often this term (6).

Raphinha’s assist for Jack Harrison’s opener was his sixth in the Premier League this season – no Leeds player has more in the competition this term.

  • Week 52 – February 22nd – Week 8 of lockdown 3 restrictions

Tues Feb 23rd 2021 PREMIER LEAGUE

    Leeds United 3 Southampton 0 FT – 0-0 HT

    Bamford (47’minutes), Dallas (78’minutes), Raphinha (84’minutes)

    Assists – Roberts (47’minutes), Hélder Costa (78’minutes)

Patrick Bamford scored his 13th goal of the season to help Leeds end a run of back-to-back defeats to extend Southampton’s own winless run to a far more worrying eight matches.

The striker struck early in the second half, timing his run to perfection to beat offside and latch on to Tyler Roberts’ through-ball before firing a low shot into the far corner.

A neat Stuart Dallas finish from the edge of the box and Raphinha’s superb free-kick sealed the points.
No English player has scored more Premier League goals this season than Patrick Bamford (13, level with Harry Kane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin).

Patrick Bamford has been directly involved in more goals in all competitions under Marcelo Bielsa than any other Leeds player (48 – 39 goals, 9 assists).

Tyler Roberts has registered two assists in his last three league appearances for Leeds, as many as he managed in his previous 40.

Stuart Dallas has netted five Premier League goals this season for Leeds, only once before managing more in a single league campaign (6 in 2014/15 for Brentford).

Leeds’ Stuart Dallas has scored five league goals this season, the most by a Northern Irishman in the Premier League since Gareth McAuley (six) in 2016-17.

Raphinha’s strike was Leeds’ first direct free-kick goal in the Premier League March 2004, when Stephen McPhail scored against Manchester City.

Leeds have scored 43 goals in the Premier League this season, last netting more after 25 games of a top-flight campaign in 1991-92 when they won the First Division (48).

Leeds have kept clean sheets in consecutive home Premier League games for the first time since February 2003 (a run of 4).
