  • Week 18 –June 29th 2020 – Week 15 of lockdown

This was the news I had been waiting for. I was in a good place now and with the weather being so good, I had already made myself available to play for New Ash Green.

    Dear all,

We are delighted that the UK Government has given the green light for recreational cricket in England* to return from Saturday July 11.

The latest update from the UK Government signals progression from Step 3 to Step 4 of ECB’s roadmap to return for the recreational game, meaning competitive cricket matches in England with adjustments to respect hygiene and social distancing would be permitted.

ECB has maintained a constant dialogue with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) throughout this process and the UK Government have stated that COVID-secure guidance will be published in the coming days.

Guidelines are already prepared for the return of recreational cricket and following the Prime Minister’s comments, will now be finalised and published early next week.

  • Week 18 –June 29th 2020 – Week 15 of lockdown

Well my cricket stats project was now in full swing as was finding error after error, this was the response I was getting after raising them via the cricinfo feedback page.

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch with Cricinfo.

Your email will be read and passed to the relevant department.

Due to the sheer volume of messages that we receive, we can’t guarantee that we will reply to every email.

However, we do very much appreciate your feedback.

    Many thanks,

    Customer care

Why were there so many mistakes on the number 1 cricket website in the world?

  • Week 15 –June 8th 2020 – Week 12 of lockdown

People that know me, know cricket is a big part of my life, when I was 10, myself and a group of friends, from April right through to October, virtually every weekend day and school holidays, we would go off to this piece of land and play cricket. We would take food and drink and just play.

I even had a trial for Kent, but only public school children were taken on.

I played adult cricket from 13 and have met some lovely people over the years, the Chelsfield Exiles Saturday was a blast, on the field and off, thankfully Claire understood what cricket meant to me and the Saturday team welcomed her.

I have been captain and chairman of the club.

In my later life,  I have played league cricket for New Ash Green and even won a medal for winning a league, I just wished the players would believe in themselves in the second team, there are some quality players that would easily walk into other teams!!.

Obviously COVID19 had stopped cricket, but as you see from the ECB roadmap, they wanted people playing, with my depression lifted, I wanted to play again, so made myself available again for New Ash Green.

  • Week 9 – April 27th 2020 – Week 6 of lockdown

Project Test 2000, hmmmmm, so you’re the number 1 cricket site in the world, how many mistakes / errors should you make a match?

  • Week 6 – April 6th 2020 – Week 3 of lockdown

Hmm that project didn’t last long thanks to Covid19.

I know, let do from 2000, all test matches, see how players have performed this century. Of we start.

  • Week 3 – March 16th 2020

The England cricket team were sent home from Sri Lanka and I couldn’t see when International cricket would be played again. My 2020 decade project was completed, I thought I have to keep my mind active, so I decided to work on 2000 test project.

A common theme is starting to appear, as I wasn’t expecting all the errors I was finding on cricinfo for each test match!!

  • Week 2 March 9th 2020

People that know me, my passion is cricket, I’ve played since I was 10 and started playing in adult cricket at 13 and have played virtually every year since.

At this point in time I was still in depression from the effects of not enjoying my job and then being made redundant after 21 years, 1 month and 11 days service. I had no desire to travel to London any more, been doing that since 1984.

So I thought lets do an International cricket stats spreadsheet for the 2020 decade, men’s test, men’s and women’s ODI. So what I was to call the cricinfo project begun. 🙂

  • Trying to learn to bowl again

In my younger days I was a pretty good medium fast bowler until my hamstring went during a match bowling.

Watching other’s bowl, I wanted to bowl again, but I lost all control of bowling, I could have been Steve Harmison double – Please log in to see the videos
