Terry Cooper passed away today, another member of the great Don Revie team. RIP

Former Leeds defender Terry Cooper has died at the age of 77.

Cooper made 351 appearances for Leeds between 1962 and 1975 during one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.

The full-back scored the only goal in the 1968 League Cup final against Arsenal at Wembley and was part of the side that won the First Division title the following season.

He also won 20 caps for England and played at the 1970 World Cup in Mexico.

Cooper left Leeds for Middlesbrough in 1975 and also had spells at Bristol City, Bristol Rovers and Doncaster Rovers, before retiring from playing after a second spell at Bristol City in 1984.

He would later manage both Bristol clubs as well as having two stints in charge of Exeter either side of a two-year spell at Birmingham.

We went to the county ground at Beckenham to see Kent v Lancashire in the Royal London one day cup. This was the first time I had been to ground to watch a match and I could show Claire where I did my ECB coach training from earlier in the year.

As seems to be the case for us this year, the rain followed us and we only saw 14.5 overs of cricket.

Lancashire had reached 71 without loss when play was halted by a downpour at 12.02, with Josh Bohannon 39 not out and Keaton Jennings unbeaten on 24. Kent’s Darren Stevens had bowled six overs for just 11.

Claire had surgery today, including the removal of three cyst.

Thankfully it all went smoothly and I was able to pick her up early evening.

Today our certificate arrived for the Father Time plaque that will be on display on the new Father Time wall at the Lords cricket ground.

It’s for me and Claire in celebrating the England Women World Cup win at Lords in 2017 which we were at.

I think the best atmosphere I have been at for any sporting event.
