  • Week 261 – March 4th – New car or not new car

So today we drove to get the new car, even though we had not heard from car supplier.

We entered the show room and I saw our sales person, as I walked towards him, I could see that he was surprised to see us.

Yes he wasn’t expecting us and hadn’t read the email I sent.

So annoying, after trying to sort this out in advance.

Cut a long story, short, will go back on Friday.

West Bromwich Albion ended leaders Leeds United‘s five-game winning Championship run as they came from behind to earn a point.

Junior Firpo headed Leeds into an early lead, but fellow defender Darnell Furlong nodded in a leveller six minutes before the break.

Leeds are now six points clear at the top going into the afternoon games, which include second-placed Sheffield United’s trip to Queens Park Rangers.

But a draw was a fair outcome – the Baggies’ 16th in 35 league games this season, more than any other Championship team – and their second of the campaign against Leeds.

Leeds had an early let-off when, from Isaac Price’s pass, John Swift scuffed his low right-foot shot just past the post. And, just two minutes later, the hosts took full advantage.

Wales winger Daniel James cut in down the left to deliver a wickedly dipping cross from his right foot – and Firpo rose at the near post to head home his third goal of the season, and second of the week, having also netted in Monday’s late win over the Blades which was his first at Elland Road in just over two years.

But Albion levelled with a header of their own.

Swift’s deep free-kick from the right was swung beyond the far post – and Furlong went aerial for his first goal since 4 May, looping an angled header back over the head of stranded keeper Illan Meslier and inside the right upright.

Mikey Johnston engineered another opening for Furlong on 70 minutes but this time the free-roving Albion full-back powered an acrobatic header just over from close range.

Tom Fellows was stopped by Joe Rodon‘s challenge when he went clear with a late chance for the Albion, while at the other end Leeds substitute Mateo Joseph struck the bar following a driving run in the box and James also went close.

But neither side could find a winner as the two sides drew for the second time this season following a desperate goalless draw at The Hawthorns in August.

We can’t drop points at home, we need to win the home games, as we can’t afford not to get promoted automatically due to our dreadful play-off record.

    Come on Leeds.

    Marching On Together.

  • Week 260 – March 1st – cricinfo

Always good to see a comment posted on an England’s match, as it’s not easy to get one posted.

  • Week 260 – February 28th – Not what you want to see

We had gone to get a coffee and got back into the car, Claire said what’s that pointing at the car front window.

I got out of the car and it looked even worse, something had caused a massive crack on the screen.

You don’t want it to happen at any time, but we are selling the car next Tuesday.

    Car
A massive crack on the window and were meant to be selling the car next Tuesday.

Once we got back home, I posted on the Auto glass website and was advised someone would call back by 1pm.

Of course no call, so I was then able to find a number to contact them and after speaking with a very helpful person, the earliest it could be done was Tuesday morning, the same day as picking up the new car.

I rang the car seller and of course the sales person wasn’t available, not surprising with the new car registration out tomorrow, so sent an email.

    Let see what they say.

  • Week 259 – February 23rd – What a dinner

    Roast
Great way to the end the day, Pork roast dinner, wonderfully cooked by Claire.

What a wonderful roast dinner this was tonight. Shame couldn’t put more on the plate.

  • Week 259 – February 22nd – Claire diabetes eye test

Took Claire to her yearly diabetic eye test.

It was at the same hospital, but in a different part of the building.

When we got on the floor it was like a ghost town, the waiting room was quite clearly a patient bedroom.

Considering all the issues with lack of space for the NHS, this just shows the waste of a medical property with all these empty rooms.

The eye test went all OK.

  • Week 258 – February 15th – What colours

Another amazing sun rise capture today.

    Sunrise
    What a sunrise coloured sky.

I must admit the picture doesn’t show the full spectacle of the colours.
