Week 235 – September 12th – Mauritius Part 2

Someone fishing on this wonderful 1st day in Mauritius
Wishing tree in the ground of the Lux Grand hotel. Today was spent relaxing in the hotel and getting to know the layout, also seeing the holiday rep, which we booked two trips to visit around the island.
By the time we went back to the suite, the water was fully working again and the shower was amazing.
I think this could be an incredible 12 days.

Week 235 – September 11th – Airport to hotel
Customs was quite busy, but we got through in a reasonable amount of time and the suitcases were already going round when we reached the baggage location, so I was able to grab and then go out of the airport arrivals and from the instructions, could see the meeting location.
I think we actually the first people through, as there were many package details on the desk, once ours were found, we were escorted to the driver who was taking us to the hotel, again I’m glad we had chosen this option, otherwise we would have been waiting for everyone else.
The driver was very nice and also gave us information as he took us to the hotel. One thing we noticed that the police control the roundabouts, otherwise traffic which was bad, would been even worse.
Mauritius is sensible as they drive on the same side of the car and road as us and even the road signs are use same colour scheme and names, like M1, M2 etc.
By the time we reached the hotel it was dark, the hotel had uniform security guard and gate and then a fair driveway before we reached the entrance.
We were then and taken to a seating area in reception and checked in with nice drink and flannel and were then taken to room, well suite, and see video in a later posting.
Once refreshed, we then went off to the restaurant which was Turkish and enjoyed our first meal and drinks for hopefully a great holiday.

Week 235 – September 11th – Dubai to Mauritius
The flight to Dubai was very smooth and comfortable, I’m glad we had paid extra for the seats and we were both able to get some shut eye.
The flight landed on time Dubai, which was good, as we only two hours before the next flight to Mauritius.
We had to use the underground train shuttle to get us to the departure flight location, but everything went smoothly and got to our gate with plenty of time to spare.
This flight didn’t have premium economy, but our travel agent had got us window seats again and the seat actually had decent leg room space.
Again the flight was good and we touched down in Mauritius on time, we gave a clap and cheer as there was a returning Paralympic Mauritius athletic on the flight who had won a medal.
