Week 28 – September 7th 2020 – Week 25 of lockdown
After being hit by the cricket ball yesterday when batting, I didn’t think much of it as I was hit on the pads.
I was up early and just chilling, laying on the sofa, when Claire finally got up and was coming down the stairs, she went why have you got an elephant leg and foot?
I was hit when batting, you could actually see the ball mark on my left leg, right where going up to the hospital. Due to Covid19, I went in on myself and was allowed in after my temperature had been checked.
I was seen by the triage nurse and then waited to see a consultant.
Soon I was seeing the consultant, I have to say he was great guy to chat with, he wanted me to have an x-ray as he wanted to make sure no breaks or fracture as the leg was warm, I tried to use crutches, but I was a complete failure, so was put in a wheelchair, now this is one of the few times when you can have someone with you, so Claire took me around to the x-ray area. She was actually allowed in and watched the x-rays being taken.
Back we went and saw the consultant again, he was concerned as there was a white mass on my left leg and had been in discussion with another consultant, when I stood up and showed the leg, he was relief, it because I have bad varicose veins which was causing the mass and was the hopefully the main reason for the swelling, as my blood circulation is poor. (So after all these years I finally realised why I bruised so badly ?). Thankfully no breaks or fractures.
I was put on antibiotics and given crutches to you (they have become an interesting part of my life ?) – watch this space.

Week 26 – August 24th 2020 – Week 23 of lockdown
This was an email I sent to the Cotswold wildlife park that I had visited this week
Good morning.
Have you been checking trip advisor?
I visited your park earlier in the week. I have to say what’s the point of your online booking system, when you’re letting in too many people?
I feel for the staff as shouting out social distancing with just voice no one going to hear.
Yes you raise it on a tannoy message too, but these are humans, your better talking to your lovely animals. Who to me seem to be more covid19 concerned then who’s ever controlling the website?
It’s a shame because you do have a lovely park.

Week 26 – August 24th 2020 – Week 23 of lockdown
Before leaving for the trip, we booked the “The Fish and Anchor Inn” as we had been here before and really enjoyed it.
Obviously with Covid19, you expect there to be changes.
We arrived and that’s when the issues started, they had us one system and not the other and the manageress completely ignored that Claire had the email confirmation. We thought we better stay as we didn’t think we would get in elsewhere.
We finally got our table an hour later, even though it had been empty for 30 minutes.
The starters were OK, nothing special.
We ordered another round of drinks, now in normal times this is bad enough, but in Covid19 times you don’t expect a new glass to turn up with lipstick on, all the manageress could say was she told them off.
Claire main meal was good, but mine the potatoes were clearly from a microwave and the vegetables were hard.
The government Covid19 rules say there should be open windows and doors, but this obviously wasn’t the case as the windows were steaming up as more people came in.
Thankfully this was on the “eat out to help out” scheme, so we saved £20 and thankfully didn’t get the virus.
We will definitely not going back here.
Note to self, check trip advisor before going to places.

Week 26 – August 24th 2020 – Week 23 of lockdown
Now I was out of my depression again, it was time for me to stand up for the little man (us).
This was my first communication with my local MP, unfortunately there were many more to come.
Good morning James Brokenshire.
We’re in very unusual times in 2020 and I’m sure that someone like you, who has experienced a major health issue in their life, covid19 is a major issue.
I’m trying to do my bit as both sets of my parents had to shield due to health issues, with going to restaurants and wildlife parks. I’m also part of the government’s National covid19 survey and have put myself forward to help with the vaccine trial.
I send this email because I have been to Bluewater twice (I have raised it with them as well) but there appears to be no change and being honest it’s not really there fault but us. Too many people are ignoring the one way system and not social distancing and so many are not wearing face masks
I’m on holiday at the moment and went to a wildlife park, you have to book online I have no idea why as there were so many people there ignoring the government’s simple instructions.
I’ve raised an issue via the government’s covid19 website because a pub I visited this week several Covid19 instructions were not followed, I mean my wife got a glass for her drink with lipstick still on it, that’s bad enough during normal times, but covid19 times it’s unreal.
So my question is. Will you do anything as I don’t want this virus as I have a lung issue and I want life back to normal?
Regards
Michael

Week 18 –June 29th 2020 – Week 15 of lockdown
4th July, a big day in the USA, but this year a BIG day in the UK, restaurants, pubs, non-retail shops, garden centres could reopen.
Would people follow the rules?

Week 15 –June 8th 2020 – Week 12 of lockdown
Now earlier in the year (February) we had done a Government National Statistics survey about living. We were asked at the end if we would do other surveys and we said yes, not knowing that the next one would be so major!!
In early June I received a letter which had On Her Majesty’s Service, was I finally going to be James Bond 🙂

COVID19 survey swab testing Erm NO, this was to be COVID19 swab testing, first for five weeks in a row and then once a month for a year.
We thought anything to help fight this virus, it’s not pleasant, but at least we do ourselves and we know we are in the clear or not. Plus reading all these stories about people struggling to get a test, we had them coming to us 🙂
