Week 26 – August 24th 2020 – Week 23 of lockdown

This was an email I sent to the Cotswold wildlife park that I had visited this week

Good morning.

Have you been checking trip advisor?

I visited your park earlier in the week. I have to say what’s the point of your online booking system, when you’re letting in too many people?

I feel for the staff as shouting out social distancing with just voice no one going to hear.

Yes you raise it on a tannoy message too, but these are humans, your better talking to your lovely animals. Who to me seem to be more covid19 concerned then who’s ever controlling the website?

It’s a shame because you do have a lovely park.

Regards

Michael

This was the response that I got back –
    Dear Michael,

Thank you for your recent visit and your follow up email. Your comments have been noted and we do regret any disappointment caused by other visitors not observing the government’s social distancing guidelines. All our extensive precautions in the light of the pandemic were clearly set out on our website and publicised through social media. We particularly emphasised in all our publicity around opening that people should delay their visit if at all concerned about being in a place with potentially lots of other people.

We would like to point out that we have strictly adhered to the comprehensive Government guidance on the re-opening of zoos and other day visitor attractions and if in doubt, we have acted cautiously. We are in regular contact with the Environmental Health office of our licensing authority, who are kept fully informed of all our protocols.

Finally, we would like to emphasise that at no point did our visitor numbers exceed 30% of the capacity of the wildlife park and as you will understand, we cannot take responsibility for all of our visitors observing social distancing guidelines.

Thank you for all your support and we regret that due to staff redundancies caused by the financial effects of the pandemic , we only have a skeleton staff in the office , hence this delay in replying to your email. Thank you so much for your patience and apologies again for any disappointment.

    Yours sincerely,

    Mr R P Heyworth

    Dear Mr Heyworth

Thank you for the response, I think you replied in a decent amount of time.

I’m confused if your saying you’re at 30% of your capacity, as where would the other 70% vehicles park?

You do have a wonderful park, but the reviews on trip advisor aren’t looking good and won’t help the business.

Have your local environmental health department, visited you since you reopened to confirm your doing everything Covid19 securely?

    Regards

    Michael
