  • Week 159 – March 31st – Medical time

  • Week 159 – March 31st – ICC survey

This afternoon, I took part in an ICC survey, which appears to be about selecting logos for a cricket world cup.

I must admit I thought one of the logos was a bit sexist, well see what they use.

  • Week 158 – March 25th – Rose tree

During the earlier part of this year, we had been visiting various garden centres to find a rose tree to put in a plant pot for Claire’s mum.

Today we purchased the rose tree and will plant it as soon as possible. Mercy of the English weather.

Pictures will follow when we do.

  • Week 158 – March 23rd – Tax call

  • Week 158 –March 23rd – Are they serious?

I sent this email after reading about this on the nextdoor website, where they would limit the number of times you could go to the recycling rubbish centres in the council area. Are they serious?

    Hello Aysa

Please can you prevent this ridiculous idea of only 10/20 visits a year to the recycling centres, is the council looking for flying tipping and the borough to look worse than it is already?

If you know people are miss using the systems, then stop those people and don’t impact the majority that use when required.

Makes we wonder what the council tax is for?

Which more of it will be used to clean up the borough due to the fly tipping increase, which will happen.

This will also stop people helping their neighbours who can’t get to the recycling centres for various reasons.

I must admit I thought our borough during Covid 19 was one of the best organised regarding the number plate usage for access to the recycling centres compared to other councils.

    So please stop this.

  • Week 158 – March 20th – Costa

As mentioned in a recent post, we had visited Claire dad at the weekend, and on the way down, we stopped at a motorway services to get a Costa coffee. You know how much Claire likes a Costa coffee.

How much do you think a coffee is dearer at a motorway service Costa, to one in a high street?

So via Costa app I have, I sent a message to question this?

This was the response I got today.

“Thank you for contacting Costa Customer Services with your query regarding pricing.

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the pricing structure in place at our service station store.

As you may be aware, our service station stores are operated by Moto and Roadchef. , Unfortunately, we are not directly responsible for the price that our partners choose to sell our products at, but we can share your views with them so that they can take this into consideration when reviewing their pricing policy.

Although we provide an RRP to our partners, the final decision on pricing does lie with them. Quite often, overheads for service station locations are higher than that off a high street store. For example, they are normally 24 hour opening so utilities are higher. An extra cost is normally associated to team members working unsociable hours.  These are just a couple of areas that would have been considered when setting pricing.

Please be assured that all customer feedback is taken very seriously indeed and we work hard to ensure we are listening and acting with our customers best interests at heart.

We do hope that this email goes some way to restore your faith in our brand and reassurance that we do listen to all customer feedback.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us, feedback, whether positive or negative is always very important to us and our success as a brand.”

I can understand about the 24 hour opening, but the gap is getting larger between the high street shop and the motorway services, but then what isn’t

Regarding my earlier question above, our 2 coffees, were £1.50 dearer.

    COST OF LIVING STRIKES AGAIN

  • Week 158 – March 20th – Oven

We had been discussing to get the oven clean and to see if this would improve the oven flame too.

Search on the local nextdoor website, I found a local company and after looking at google reviews, phoned the company.

They required pictures of the oven.

These are the pictures and look out for a later post to see the outcome.

  • Week 157 – March 19th – Biggin Hill

We took a drive out to the café at Biggin Hill airport, just to get out.

Some of you may be pleased as there are no pictures from this visit.

  • Week 157 – March 18th – The Bell Sandwich

We went and saw Claire dad today, as it was the first mother’s day without Claire’s mum.

Claire had booked a table at The Bell restaurant in Sandwich, we had never been before, but would definitely recommend it.

The service and food was good and the price was reasonable too.

  • Week 157 – March 17th – Looking forward to this

Looking forward to eating this turkey and bacon joint at the weekend.
