Week 158 – March 20th – Costa

As mentioned in a recent post, we had visited Claire dad at the weekend, and on the way down, we stopped at a motorway services to get a Costa coffee. You know how much Claire likes a Costa coffee.

How much do you think a coffee is dearer at a motorway service Costa, to one in a high street?

So via Costa app I have, I sent a message to question this?

This was the response I got today.

“Thank you for contacting Costa Customer Services with your query regarding pricing.

We are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the pricing structure in place at our service station store.

As you may be aware, our service station stores are operated by Moto and Roadchef. , Unfortunately, we are not directly responsible for the price that our partners choose to sell our products at, but we can share your views with them so that they can take this into consideration when reviewing their pricing policy.

Although we provide an RRP to our partners, the final decision on pricing does lie with them. Quite often, overheads for service station locations are higher than that off a high street store. For example, they are normally 24 hour opening so utilities are higher. An extra cost is normally associated to team members working unsociable hours.  These are just a couple of areas that would have been considered when setting pricing.

Please be assured that all customer feedback is taken very seriously indeed and we work hard to ensure we are listening and acting with our customers best interests at heart.

We do hope that this email goes some way to restore your faith in our brand and reassurance that we do listen to all customer feedback.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us, feedback, whether positive or negative is always very important to us and our success as a brand.”

I can understand about the 24 hour opening, but the gap is getting larger between the high street shop and the motorway services, but then what isn’t

Regarding my earlier question above, our 2 coffees, were £1.50 dearer.

COST OF LIVING STRIKES AGAIN
