  • Week 180 – Aug 26th – Double pot of gold

After so much rain which we thankfully missed when we were at Greenwich earlier today, typical for a bank holiday weekend in England, then going sunny this evening, Claire captured a double rainbow at home.

I can’t remember the last time I saw one.

  • Week 180 – Aug 26th – Greenwich

We took a visit up to Greenwich today and had a walk by the river Thames and Greenwich, including its market, luckily we did this before the rain came.

  • Week 180 – Aug 23rd – Financial review

Today I had a financial review and in the most part, everything is going all OK which is all you can ask for with the mess going on around the world.

Recovered from the bad ending to 2022, due to the scare from the mini budget from the shortest rein prime minster.

  • Week 179 – Aug 20th – Back over 18 stone

After a few weeks, the weight has pushed itself back over 18 stone.

    The battle continues.

  • Week 179 – Aug 20th – England v Spain

England’s wait to win a first Women’s World Cup title goes on after Spain deservedly triumphed in the final in Sydney.

The Lionesses, looking to become the first England senior side since the men’s team in 1966 to win the World Cup, suffered heartbreak after being outplayed by a Spanish side full of flair and creativity.

England’s players fell to their knees in tears at the final whistle as Spain celebrated inside their penalty area after dealing with a final corner kick in the 14th minute of nerve-wracking stoppage time.

Spain captain Olga Carmona slotted the winner past goalkeeper Mary Earps in the first half, capitalising after England’s Lucy Bronze lost possession in midfield.

England manager Sarina Wiegman, who has now lost two successive World Cup finals, introduced Lauren James and Chloe Kelly at half-time but Spain maintained control despite the Lionesses’ best efforts.

Earps, who won the Golden Glove award as best goalkeeper at the tournament, made several stunning saves, none better than from the penalty spot to deny Jenni Hermoso in the second half.

So the wait goes on for another football World Cup win, but we can be proud of this team. Spain were just too good in the final.

Felt strange that there was still almost half a day to go after watching the match.

  • Week 179 – Aug 16th – Rose tree

The rose tree for the memory of Claire’s mum is blooming well.

The rest of the plants not doing too badly either. Do you agree?

  • Week 178 – August 13th – Freddie Mercury – Part 12

    Freddie
Bohemian Rhapsody was the second single I ever purchased. This was the first song to have a video for it and this changed how records were produced. Some youngster’s will wonder what this item is.
