  • Week 178 – August 11th – Surrey v Kent – Part 7

    Kent
Victorious Kent team walking off after a good winning performance. Not been able to say that much this season.

    Final score

Enjoyable day at The Oval in good weather to watch the match.

It turned out there was a crowd of nearly 7,000 for the match, which is pretty impressive for a county one day match. Must have taken Surrey by surprise. Even more so as Kent won!

Yes it was a good batting performance by Kent, backed up by a useful bowling performance. Always good to see Kent beat Surrey.

With the weather due to be good today, we went up to The Oval, for the one day match between Surrey v Kent.

I don’t think Surrey were expecting a large crowd, as when we got out of the station we could see queues of people for the ticket and getting in.

After queuing to get the tickets, it looked like we would have to queue to get in, but as we got near to the gates, I noticed another gate was about to be open, so I grabbed Claire and showed our tickets and got straight in. Always good to be alert what’s going on around you.

  • Week 178 – August 11th – That’s better

Today I woke up and got a much better response from the Nextdoor website support.

Obviously my prompting in the previous posting had helped, as they said it was a problem with their end and hope to have it fixed soon.

You don’t expect to be told, turn off something that you are using for protection as the solution.

  • Week 178 – August 9th – I was annoyed with this response

I had been having issues with a website I visited most days, called Nextdoor. After some support from a developer and using my own knowledge, it appeared that the VPN I was using wasn’t allowing me to see the login page. After advising the developer, this was the response I got from the support person.

    Hi Michael,
Thanks for getting back to us with this information.

We hope you can still use Nextdoor without using the VPN.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us again for future assistance.

    Best,

    Emmie

    Nextdoor”

I wasn’t happy with that, especially every other site I logged into had no problems with.

    This was my response –

    “Hello Emmie

Thank you for the email, but that wasn’t the answer I was looking for.

I have no issues with any other website when using the VPN, so I expect the Nextdoor website to work with it.

Please could this be investigated and resolved.

    Regards

    Michael”

  • Week 177 – August 6th – Leeds United v Cardiff City

    Leeds United 2             Cardiff City 2 – HT 0-2

    Cooper (49)                  Bowler (23)

    Summerville (90+5)    Ugbo (39)

    Assists

    Summerville (49)        Ugbo (23)

Still earlier August and the football season is under way, crazy.

First game back in the championship and under a new manager. Let’s hope we can get straight back up. Come on Leeds. Marching on Together.

Leeds United made a dramatic return to the Championship as new manager Daniel Farke saw Crysencio Summerville’s added-time equaliser cap a fightback from 2-0 down to draw with Cardiff City.

The Bluebirds, also under the guidance of a new boss in Erol Bulut, had to withstand heavy Leeds pressure but clinical counter-attacking goals by debutants Josh Bowler and Ike Ugbo had given the visitors a convincing half-time lead.

A towering header by Leeds captain Liam Cooper early in the second half fuelled a resurgence from the dominant hosts, who missed several chances.

Just as it looked like Cardiff would cling on for a memorable victory, Summerville finished superbly five minutes into time added on to spark jubilant celebrations at Elland Road.

A point was the least Leeds deserved. The statistics told the story of their supremacy: 72% possession, 25 shots to Cardiff’s seven and six on target compared to their opponents’ two.

Farke’s first Leeds line-up featured only three players who began the club’s final Premier League game in May – Cooper, Luke Ayling, and Pascal Struijk – after an off-season which featured more departures than arrivals.

Of the three new faces to come in, only Ethan Ampadu, a £7m acquisition from Chelsea, started this match, though there was a full debut for teenager Archie Gray while Daniel James was back on the left wing having been on loan at Fulham last season.

Well hopefully this new team can get us back in the premiership, otherwise it will be many years before we do.
