General life story

  • Week 158 – March 20th – Oven

We had been discussing to get the oven clean and to see if this would improve the oven flame too.

Search on the local nextdoor website, I found a local company and after looking at google reviews, phoned the company.

They required pictures of the oven.

These are the pictures and look out for a later post to see the outcome.

  • Week 157 – March 17th – Looking forward to this

Looking forward to eating this turkey and bacon joint at the weekend.

    Doesn’t it look nice?

It was a good saving too..

  • Week 157 – March 17th – Sports fan survey

This was an interesting survey, as it was regarding the English premiership and how much it is dominating the other leagues, especially regarding finance. For instance, the January 2023 transfer window, the premiership spent more than the other 4 big European leagues combined.

I must admit, I think the league is living in fantasy world, with the money that is being spent on players, their salaries etc.

Even if you finish last this season, the club will get £79.5 million plus. All this going on during the cost of living crisis and the war in the Ukraine.

    I made my feeling known.

  • Week 156 – March 8th – New car mats

Today I drove down the Kia garage to pick up the new car mats.

It had snowed overnight as previous posting showed. Of course I came across one idiot who deliberately drove into the snow to spray it everywhere.

I never understand why cars don’t come with these mats, well I do, more money for the car manufactures.

Though due to the previous issues, these were provided free.

  • Week 156 – March 8th – More snow

Well it was forecasted, but do you always believe the weather forecasters?

Actually surprised it settled, as it had been raining for about 12 hours before.

  • Week 156 – March 6th – Scary this close to home

When previous mentions were made about this policeman Wayne Couzens and incidents at McDonalds in Swanley, I thought there is only 1 place it could be, but they never confirmed the location.

Today with his appearance in court regarding these incidents, they finally announced the location, it was the one I thought.

It’s just over 5 miles from where I live.

Why didn’t the police do anything, bad enough after 1 incident, but a second one in less than a week, they then only showed an interest after the murder of the lady in London, who life could have been saved if they acted.

I mean it was all on CCTV and they had the bank details too. So not much detective work required.

Just shows how careful you have to be.

    Be safe out there.

  • Week 155 – March 1st – Objection to car parking

For what’s it worth, though if you don’t say anything, you can’t complain.

I put in an objection against the London borough of Bromley regarding, making all car parking that you have to pay for cashless.

Not everybody has mobile phones to use the various apps to pay.

Plus from experience often the internet speed is terrible or the apps don’t work and the owners of the car parks love to fine you too.

    We’ll see what happens.

  • Week 154 – February 24th – Electricity

Today we received our latest electricity bill.

Considering we were away during the period this bill covers last year, I was surprised to see we have actually used less electricity this bill period than for last year.

Which is obviously good, considering the cost of fuel now.

Now the scary wait for the gas bill as we have no government help with that bill.

  • Week 154 – February 24th – One year on

Can you believe it’s one year on since the start of the war in Ukraine?

What a waste of life and destroying of a beautiful country, just because off one man desire to claim back land.

This should never been happening in our generation, no one wins from war as we have seen back through history.

    This needs to end NOW!

  • Week 154 – February 23rd – ONS living survey

This morning I did my third ONS living survey over the phone, as they check to see how we feel and answer various questions about life.

Overall very pleasant and hopefully useful for the future years of living in England.
