Week 331 – July 10th – England v India – Day 1 – Part 1
A historic but sad day also, that it has taken this long for women to play their first test at ever Lords after all these years of cricket at the ground.
Also, strange that it is only five days after the Women’s World Cup Final was played here, so some England players are going from playing T20 to test cricket.

Week 330 – July 5th – Brilliant day, apart from the result – Part 6
Australia celebrating there winning of T20 World Cup. Australia 153 for 3 (Mooney 64, Litchfield 48) beat England 150 for 4 (Sciver-Brunt 58*, Kemp 44*, Hamilton 1-19) by seven wickets
After consecutive ICC tournaments in which they went home empty-handed, Australia wound back the clock and waltzed off with a seventh T20 title to the disappointment of a packed house at Lord’s. Beth Mooney was the clutch performer once again, her third consecutive half-century in T20 World Cup finals steering a comfortable chase of 151.

Australia came at them hard in response, pummelling England into submission and effectively ending the contest by halfway – if not the powerplay. Phoebe Litchfield belied the pressure of the occasion in her first final to crack an effervescent 48 from 35 during a century stand with Mooney that did the bulk of the work. Both fell before the end, but Australia still wrapped up victory – and a perfect record of seven wins from seven T20 final appearances – with 17 balls to spare.
An excellent crowd of 28,887 for the final and a record breaking 245,000 fans for the tournament. So well done English fans.
As the blog title mentions, it was a brilliant day, spent with Mark and Tracey, apart from the result, as Australia appear to hold a strangle over England in cricket. The journey home wasn’t easy, as the normal route had severe delays, so we walked to Baker Street to get a tube train to Charing Cross.

Today was the Women’s T20 World Cup Final at Lords, but before going to that, we met up with Mark and Tracy for a brunch at the Ivy restaurant.
Our journey wasn’t made easy, with both our rail lines having engineer work on them, but we both got to the Ivy before our time.
