  • Week 203 – Feb 4th – Pet Shop Boys

This late afternoon, we went to the Cinema to watch the Pet Shop Boys in concert from there Dreamworld tour of last year and this year.

The concert was from Copenhagen July 2023

It was enjoyable way to watch a concert in leather recliner seats and a good atmosphere.

They were on fine form with all their greatest singles.

    Fully recommended.

  • Week 203 – Feb 3rd – One is NOT amused

We were due to go up a few weeks earlier, but something came up.

So today we travelled up to London and to Bonhams auction house, to see items that would be up for auction from the Netflix series The Crown.

On the website, it said that tickets were available, but not required to enter.

So we were not amused to see a sign at the entrance, saying “ticket people only could enter”

There was hardly anyone queuing, so we joined, but we got to the entrance, was told only ticketed people were allowed in. We checked the website whilst their, but no tickets were available.

Considering the queue we had when we saw the Freddie Mercury auction items to here, there was no crowd at all.

Why did not say that on the website?

    One (two) were NOT AMUSED.

  • Week 203 – Feb 2nd – Bristol City v Leeds United

    Bristol City 0 – Leeds United 1 – HT 0-0

    Gnonto (47′)

    Assists

    Bamford (47′)

Leeds United moved up to second in the Championship as they continued their fine form in 2024 with victory at Bristol City.

Wilfried Gnonto broke the deadlock early in the second half, firing in from just inside the box, with only his second goal of the season and on his first league start since 29 December.

Bristol City goalkeeper Max O’Leary made a number of key saves in the first half to keep his side in the game, including denying Georginio Rutter from a few yards out.

Glen Kamara came closest to doubling the tally for Leeds minutes after Gnonto’s goal, but saw his shot trickle wide.

Leeds keeper Illan Meslier by comparison had little to do all night as out of form Bristol City’s winless league run stretched to six games, while Daniel Farke’s side have won five in a row.

Leeds last won five successive league matches in July 2020, the season where they won promotion to the Premier League.

Their victory at Ashton Gate moves them up from fourth into the automatic promotion places for the first time this campaign, ahead of Ipswich and Southampton who both play on Saturday.

What a start we have had to 2024, hopefully as mentioned above, we do as we did in 2020 and get promoted back to the Premier League.

1st time we have been in the top 2, but want to be there after 46 games.

As well as this winning run in 2024, we are not conceding, so building up a good goal difference, we could be crucial come the end of the season.

    Keep going Leeds.

  • Week 203 – Feb 2nd – Eye Test

Today, I finally got to the opticians to have my eyes tested, after the issues with the car. Have been using this optician for over 50 years.

As my prescription as slightly changed, I will need to have new glasses. Which are not cheap. What is these days?

An extra check, I paid for diabetic eye check, which was all clear.

I like that I can see parts of my previous eye tests from other years on the computer and thankfully they have hardly changed.

  • Week 202 – Jan 25th – Excellent customer service

Earlier in the week, I tried to order some clothing from English cricket board.

As mentioned in a previous blog late last year, I had been offered a discount voucher due to the issues with delivery of the previous order.

I tried a couple of times with this order, but the discount wouldn’t apply.

As seems to be common these, I could only contact them via email.

During the communication, they asked for the email with the voucher discount, I had kept this.

I have to admit, the service provided was excellent, keeping me in formed throughout the issue, which was resolved today by them applying the discount on my order.

    So never delete useful communication.

I just wished you could pick up a phone to speak to someone.

  • Week 202 – Jan 24th – No fault found

After the incident on Friday with the car, I had been communicating with Kia, even had the engineer call me that had been dealing with the issue so he could hear what actually happened on the day.

All the testing they had done, whether with the computer system or manually, they found no fault.

They had searched there knowledge base and it hadn’t been reported before.

I was kindly taken down to the garage, by Ziya.

When I was at the garage, I enquired how they got the car started again.

An engineer saw me and took me to the car and on the driver’s side, there is a button that you can press that will reset the car. So they are becoming more and more like computers. (Reboot – lol)

I wished I had been told about that, when I purchased the car.

Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again. At least it was all covered under warranty.
