Week 278 – July 5th – NHS at its best

People are easy to moan and complain about something, so I decided to give this feedback regarding the care I got from the NHS staff at Princess Royal and my SVT.

“I was at the hospital early July in the afternoon, at the urgent care after my doctor referred me. The receptionist was helpful and clear with her information on check in.

I was then triaged within about 5 minutes and was dealt with all OK and understood the triage doctor.

About an hour later I was seen by a doctor, who within seconds realised I had a serious issue with left leg. He listened to me and took an interest with the information I was telling and showing from the mychart app.

He wrote up my issue and sent me SDEC ward.

There I was sent I was welcomed very nicely at reception and was sent to waiting room. Shortly afterwards I was triaged there, and my blood were taken. Both nurses were excellent.

Roughly a 90-minute wait for the blood test results when I was seen by a female doctor who was lovely again listen to me and explained clearly that the blood results showed a slight infection and it did appear that I did have SVT again. Was sending an urgent email to the DVT team for a ultra scan and to see the team.

A nurse came and saw me shortly afterwards and showed me how to do the injections and gave me the antibiotics too.

The next day, I received a phone call to come in at 11am

I saw Terence again, who is lovely person with assistant Romairo, the scan was done which I could see and yes it showed that I had SVT virtually in the same areas as last year, but that this time I also had fluid on the leg.

I then went up to the DVT unit and was seen again by Jeru who is very clear with his instructions and information. I was prescribed blood thinner tablets and the next process.

All I can say from the moment I entered the building I was treated with respect, everyone I saw and apologise I didn’t remember all the names, but they listened and took interest with my issue. Considering all the pressure the staff are under and for the pay they get, I couldn’t fault Princess Royal at all.  NHS at its best. Thank you.”
