General life story

  • Week 131 – September 14th – Wrote a condolence message

I went on the Royal website today, I had actually earlier in the week, (but didn’t know what to say), and this time I did.

Still hard to believe that the Queen has passed away.

  • Week 131 – September 14th – Fraud

I was sitting at the table and my phone pinged. It was an unusual phone number for a text message, so I blocked the number as the text was a bit suspicious.

Then my phone pinged again and this was from Nat West, saying you will receive a text about activity on my credit card.

Looked at the previous text that I blocked and could see a strange entry.

So I replied and then contacted Nat West.

I was very impressed as this was for a small amount but they still blocked it

From speaking with the Nat West staff it was for some insurance setup, though the company didn’t exist.

The only place I think they could have got my details from, was I had a failed online order the previous weekend.

    Very impressed.

  • Week 130 – September 8th – Queen Elizabeth II

We were walking around Bluewater, when Claire got a ping on her mobile.

It was a breaking news that the Queen had passed away.

Even though during the day, the family had been asked together, it didn’t seem real, as we only saw pictures of her two days before with the kissing of the hand duties for the new prime minister.

    Seventy years’ service, incredible.

    RIP

  • Week 129 – September 2nd – Sports Fan Survey

This morning I took part in a sports fan survey, but it shows how things are changing as it was all about NFT’s, Fan Tokens, the Metaverse and Fan Research Platforms.

I’ll be honest, a lot of it went over my head. ?

What about actually playing or watching the game?

  • Week 127 – August 15th – When priority isn’t priority

Having been to London stadium before to watch athletics, I was sent a few emails to say I would have priority access to tickets before general release.

The priority window opened on Friday 12th to Monday 15th midday.

I didn’t do it on Friday as we were travelling back from Christchurch and left it to Monday morning. I clicked on the link in the email and nothing happened.

I had signed in, so I logged out and back in again, but nothing.

So I rang the number in the email and was told that all the priority tickets had gone.

After hanging up, I thought that was bizarre and never heard of that before. I logged in later, but where we wanted to sit, there were no tickets available, so we won’t be going to that next year.

I thought priority meant you had choice of tickets, do you agree or not?

  • Week 126 – August 8th – Indian and Commonwealth games

We went to our favourite Indian restaurant (Pride of India) tonight and had a great meal and service as normal.

Got home to watch the last part of the Commonwealth games, which has been brilliant, Birmingham have hosted well, good to see cricket back in the games.

Couldn’t believe the closing ceremony ended with Ozzy Osborne rising up from the stage to sing Paranoid!!

  • Week 125 – August 1st – Met with Martin Ives

Had a nice morning meeting with my friend Martin Ives.

Showed me his new office setting, which appears to be an old police station. All doing well.

  • Week 124 – July 31st – England v Germany

    England 2 – Germany 1 AET – HT 0-0 – FT 1-1

    Toone (62), Kelly (110) – Magull (79)

    Assists –

    Walsh (62) – Wassmuth (79)

It finally came home! Great performance by the team and the fans too, made this a wonderful tournament.

England created history by winning their first major women’s tournament in a dramatic Euro 2022 final against old rivals and eight-time champions Germany at Wembley, in front of a record crowd for a women’s or men’s Euro Final.

Substitute Chloe Kelly poked home a loose ball from a corner to send the raucous record crowd of 87,192 into a frenzy with ten minutes of extra time remaining.

She waited for confirmation of the goal before taking off her shirt and waving it around her head, while being lifted by her team-mates in a moment of pure elation.

Ella Toone had earlier come off the bench to score the opener in normal time before Germany’s Lina Magull set up a nervous ending when she equalised in the 79th minute.

Victory in the final was capped by England forward Beth Mead picking up the Golden Boot as the tournament’s top scorer with six goals and five assists.

It’s sad to read on various forums, negative comments when your country actually wins a tournament.

Well done LADIES for bringing the trophy HOME!!
