Week 236 – September 19th – South Island trip – Part 1

Today we had a chauffeur driven tour of the South Island of Mauritius. We had a wonderful driver called Dave, who on the journey to the 1st stopping point, told us all about sugar cane fields, as this is a major income for Mauritius.

The sugar cane fields are changed after every 7 years.

Hope you enjoy the pictures?

This is where Mauritius was formed from a volcano. It’s still active, but thankfully hasn’t erupted for many many years.

We then stopped at a boat factory, where the ladies do all the rigging for the ships made.
